Is It Worth the Hype? Little Joe’s in Gilbert, Arizona

If you’ve been anywhere near the Arizona foodie scene on Instagram lately, you’ve probably seen Little Joe’s Italian Market in Gilbert all over your feed. Their daily menu posts get more attention than some influencers and for good reason. This little spot has built a loyal following in just one year and after going a few times, I totally get why.

Little Joe’s is part Italian grocery store and part deli counter from heaven. It’s tucked away in the Oasis at the Islands plaza and the space itself is small with just a few tables inside. The shelves are stocked with specialty Italian groceries, fresh pasta, imported meats and cheeses, and fun drinks like espresso soda. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a sandwich and also leave with a bag full of pantry treasures you didn’t even know you needed.

But the deli counter is where the magic happens. The menu changes every single day which means you have to check their Instagram before you go. One day you might see a chicken parm sandwich piled high with burrata and vodka sauce. The next it’s a jumbo chicken cutlet topped with Caesar salad, cherry tomatoes, and balsamic glaze. Sometimes there’s zucchini pizza, meatball pizza, or even seasonal pasta like butternut squash gnocchi.

What I’ve Tried and Loved at Little Joe’s Gilbert

Chicken cutlet Caesar platter - This is my Roman Empire. Perfectly crispy chicken with tangy Caesar, juicy tomatoes, and a balsamic drizzle.

Meatball parm - Tender meatballs with ricotta, mozzarella, and their dreamy tomato basil sauce.

Crispy chicken sandwich - Crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside.

Zucchini pizza - Fresh, light, and cheesy.

Meatball pizza - Because why wouldn’t you put meatballs on pizza.

I have yet to have a single thing I didn’t like here. Their vodka sauce is magic. Their meatballs are tender and flavorful. Their cutlets have the perfect crunch every time. You can taste that everything at Little Joe’s is made with love and care.
